The event will run on 4 successive Sundays beginning on 12th January 2014, with the final round being on 2nd February.
Events will consist of 2 30 minute practice sessions. This will be followed by a 3-lap Superpole qualifying session with each driver allowed an outlap, a single flying lap with which to set their qualifying time, and an inlap. This session will decide the grid for race 1. Qualifying will give way to two races of equal length (duration of around 25 minutes each), with the grid for the second race being a reverse of the previous race's finishing results.
Calendar & Results
The Formula R Festival calendar visits 4 circuits never raced before in Really Rubbish Racing. Round 1 kicks off the season at the Historic Brands Hatch circuit in the county of Kent in south-east England. The full-length Grand Prix circuit will be used, taking in the natural bowl of the Indy circuit before heading out for a minute-long blast through the trees. Round 2 crosses the North Sea and lands of the shores of the Netherlands, visiting Circuit Park Zandvoort, just west of the capital city Amsterdam. The circuit has been shortened since its inception in 1948, but is still the longest of the festival at over 2.5 miles. This will be the first time that Really Rubbish Racing has raced in Holland. Round 3 sees the powerful little single seaters thread their way through the narrow twisty streets of Pau, a town in the foothills of the French Pyrenees. The race will be slightly shorter in length, but it will seem just as long as the other rounds due to the extra concentration required. The Festival Finale whisks the circus up to Scandinavia. Amongst the forests and lakes of Sweden, to be exact. Anderstorp Raceway, sharing its main straight with the town's airport runway, is the venue for the final race. With long straights and fast, banked corners, this track will push the cars and drivers to the limit. Especially if the weather turns nasty.
