RRC2.0 Round 5 - Spain

Postby camp_bell » 11 Mar 2020, 20:43

The Realish Rally Championship continues this week in the adopted home of long-time member @D0n M4730!

You will need to join the Realish Racing Dirt Rally Club here to take part.

Cars: R2
Location: Ribadelles, Spain
Stages: 6 (4 short, 2 long)
Conditions: Varied
Start: 11/3/20 @ 21:00
End: 20/3/20 @ 22:00

The rally should take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete. You only have one attempt, however, if you want to practice before your proper run, the stage order is:

Shakedown
Vinedos Dardena (Moist)
Subida por carretera (Dusk Moist)
Short service area
Ascenso por valle el Gaulet
Ascenso bosque Montverd
Short service area
Centenera (Dusk)
Final de Bellriu (NIGHT STAGE)

A couple of points:
  • Make sure you leave enough time to finish the rally before the deadline. If you're still driving at the deadline, you will not be able to finish the rally.
  • If you disconnect during your run, you can continue from the start of the next stage and finish the rally (albeit with a 15 or 30 minute time from the stage you disconnected on). This doesn't apply if you retire due to terminal damage or an unrecoverable car, however.

Good luck everyone!

Is anyone else having trouble getting onto the club? I couldn't get on at all last night, then managed 1 stage today before getting disconnected, and now can't get on again. That's probably my rally over.

They appear to be revived now.

Reminder that you have until 22:00 on Friday to complete the rally if you haven't already.

Eidt: @Bluespearman you should be able to rejoin and finish the rally if you've disconnected. It may DNF you for a stage (ie with a 15 or 30 minute time) if you disconnected in outside a service though.

Managed to get on a do a couple more stages today but it was down again this morning. Doesn't look like I've taken any DNF's but I'm going to leave it a day or so just to be on the safe side.

Seems to be if you can see the club page on RaceNet in your browser, you should be able to get in game if you want to check.

I just get 404 error the whole time.
Can't even login on their website let alone get to the clubs page.

Can't be the only one affected by this still, can I?
Thought this might have been resolved by now.

Not just you. I held my nose and looked on the Codemasters forum and RaceNet Clubs seem to have been really flaky since the weekend.

If it doesn't improve in the next day or so, we'll look into extending the deadline so everyone gets a chance to run.

Haha, I did. Guess we can try to use our influence on PJ if it's not fixed!

In light of the RaceNet server outages throughout this week, the deadline for runs will be extended to Monday, 23rd March at 22:00 UK time. A new event will go live from the finishing time on Friday at 22:00 and the results will be merged.

Do not enter this new event if you have completed a run (including DNFs) in the original event. Your time will be deleted and I will hate you forever for creating extra work for me. Just don't, not even for banter. At time of writing, this applies to @sin_racing, @Mosaegir, @GremlinWon, @Chris Williamson, @MrRandom287 and @tonyandmargaret.

Apologies for the delay with this rally but hopefully you can appreciate it's outwith our control. The final round will start next Wednesday, as scheduled.

I was half-expecting you to announce that it's been cancelled due to the c-word.

Managed to get a run last night on the original event at last but was probably lucky to get onto the server.

I started well and was happy to not be far off the front runners until a 'Caution 4 Right' turned out to be more like a 'Caution, You're going to die!' - Big Time Penalty.

That pretty much summed up the rally and that I need to adjust the pacenotes as they weren't coming fast enough but it's all good fun and did get a finish and NOT LAST!

Hoping to improve for the last round of the championship.

Was going decently enough but it all went to shit in the last two stages. Stage 5 I had three separate crashes (including one which I thought would be terminal damage but I got lucky). Stage 6 I went straight on at a 2 Left, down a valley and got a 27 second penalty to be recovered, then later I got beached on an armco barrier.

Quite how I survived all that and possibly with a shot at points is beyond me...

A fairly uneventful run from me in the end, which is maybe ironic as it feels like it's decided the championship. Only thing I did of note was run a bit shorter than optimal on the gear ratios, thinking it was safer to try and be quick through the twisty stuff and more cautious on the flat out sections, with the penalty for over-cooking it on the latter being infinitely larger.

That and some sensible driving probably meant I left about 2-10 seconds on the table per stage (I've done the last one in less than 7 minutes before) which adds up to a gap for @lazaros18 to drop nicely into. If he takes it that means I need to win by well over a minute in Poland, which is very unlikely unless we put him in the DS21...
