Yesterday I re-downloaded the Zakspeed Escort mod that I loved driving so much on my old PC. The turbocharged version on full boost used to be a real handful, but controllably so - every corner was about judging the turbo lag on the exit of a corner and then being ready to correct the dollop of inevitable oversteer when the power kicked in. Get it right and it was absolutely wonderful, but get it wrong and there was a margin for error (though you'd be a lot slower).

But that was over a year ago.

Now, with all the updates to the game, all the character and difficulty of driving the car has gone. Now the turbocharged version feels almost exactly the same as the non-turbo version, the only difference being that it's faster on the straights. No drama, no knife-edge power oversteer, nothing. I can't say for sure whether that's because the mod has been updated (or not updated to match the changes to the game) but it seems like a perfect symbol of how this game has had the realism and the challenge completely sucked out of it, presumably in the pursuit of accessibility ready for the console release.

Over the last few months I'd all but resigned myself to the fact that this game was never going to become what it should have done, but this has confirmed it. A year ago, this car on this game was the most rewarding sim experience I could have. Today it's no more remarkable than anything you could get from something like Forza or Gran Turismo.

What a pity.

..and when it's on that level it gets trounced as those titles have hundreds of cars, dozens of tracks and a reasonably fleshed out Single Player.

So I bought the Red Pack, which has the 2015 Ferrari. It's amazing. You can change ERS settings! Finally a game that simulates ERS well. You can change ERS deployment, recovery and brake maps. Both for K and H. So many options! Although I was spinning a lot changing settings all the time. So embarrassing errors but in the end quite fun. I give it my official thumbs up. Can't wait for the 919 now.

Also has the 2013 Ferrari which is fun too. Can be more aggressive with it.

All but given up on this but saw the pack has the 250F so I might have to take the plunge, if only out of curiosity. Might wait for a sale though.

iRacing did it first!

Kredits to Kunos, it's a good pack. I bought it for the 2015 Ferrari and I really enjoy it as well.

Ah yes I forgot about that. Anyway this is the first chance I have had since I don't do iRacing.

The 2015 Ferrari is amazing. It kicks the crap out of the Extremes on SCE. If the Assetto Corsa steering model was a bit better then this would be a perfect car. In the high speed corners I don't seem to have the steering responsiveness. And the damage model is still a bit weird, Still screams of a driving game than a racing game to me though which is the sad thing. Another bad point is the MGU-H isn't done very well. Hopefully they can fix that. But overall they have something good here which gives me hope for the big one which is the 919.

The 2013 Ferrari is much more racey too. Although it's sad that I can't adjust recovery settings with it even though it has a hybrid system in it.

Just wondering if anyone else is planning on purchasing early access?

I'm honestly at 0% hype for it because
>Kunos
>Only GT3 cars
But I'll still pick it up on EA simply because the full game won't be at that price until at least winter 2019 if I decide actually I do want it.

Basically that was why I posed the question was for the same reason. Basically by buying it pre-release its half the price it will be when complete.
