Realish Maintenance - Downtime incoming!

Postby shaxberd » 09 Sep 2018, 21:09

Following next Sunday's GEARS, we'll have a bit of a racing gap until the September Special Event (more info on that tomorrow!) on the 30th before heading into the Formula R10 season in October.
We'll make ample use of that break from official racing by moving the web and ftp servers over to the old game server machinery, retiring the server they currently reside on. As a result, the forums and wiki will be made read-only/taken offline on the 19th September to get the migration started, before migrating stuff over and updating DNS entries on the domains, the latter potentially taking up to 48 hours to propagate world-wide.
While the game and teamspeak server itself won't be affected, there's also a temporary discord.. thing set up to keep text-based communication up during that time, so feel free to join/bookmark that right away:

tl;dr: forum and wiki read-only/offline at some point on the 19th, everything should be back up and running by the 21st, we'll keep you posted, entertained and connected to each other in the discord above.

...aaand it's done. If you can read this, your internet provider's got their updating done and you're watching content from the new server.

While everything mostly stayed the same (as it should), here's what did change:
  • you should've been greeted with a cookie information box - once you've clicked "Got it!", it shouldn't appear again
  • the website should automatically serve its content via HTTPS/SSL, yay security!
  • the co.uk-domains should redirect to www.realishracing.com now
  • you can now connect to our TeamSpeak server via ts.realishracing.com instead of the IP
  • the FTP credentials have changed, please connect to ftp.realishracing.com now, using the username rrftp and our usual game/TS password

That should be about it for now - thanks for your patience! :)

PSA: There will be downtime on both servers (game/ts and web/ftp) during the afternoon of the 23rd July - security patches are being rolled out to the host's virtualization platform, thus requiring a reboot (and potential restart of some services afterwards). So.. don't panic :)
