Event 6 - Role Call and Post Race Discussion

Really Rubbish Racing's 12th season of Forza Motorsport action, The Classic Tour, as suggested by Dan Thorn and voted for by the club.

If Tommy's out, that makes 16 of us. Maybe worth trying for one lobby.

The hardest part is getting everyone connected at the beginning. Once that's done though there aren't a huge amount of issues.

Haha, that was hilariously rubbish. I hate my car so much now.

Race 1
Managed to hold onto the field for a lap, then got past Ben when he lag attacked Matt. I was fast enough to maintain the gap to him, but Tom was long gone ahead. 6th.

Race 2
Had a fun battle with Tom for 6th for the first couple of laps, but I lost the field after that. The car was at least driveable, if very, very slow. 7th.

Race 3
Really, really rubbish racing here. Went UDaoF at the last corner early in the race, and again at turn 2 towards the end. Had no confidence in the car, it felt like the wheels were on sideways. 7th, and lapped. By everyone.

Lag being a bitch for me tonight. Spoiled my race 1, which was probably my best chance of a good result and then kicked in again in race 3.

Camino - stayed with the pack for a lap and a bit but once everyone was through I dropped off as I expected. Set a clean lap in the hope of getting FL, hope lobby 2 was dirty!

Catalunya - good opening laps, my car was quite good in the first 2 sectors but I lost too much time in the final sector and drove horribly, span a couple of times.

Road Atlanta - led the first 3 laps and was on for a good result until I totally ballsed up turn 1. Dropped to the back of the pack and was closing back up but then I span at the last corner. Reeled in James and got past but then made another silly error. Had a great battle with Alex for last and then James was back for the taking again, but I pushed too hard trying to get him on the last lap and Alex got through. Fun race.

I must say though I'm a bit annoyed at the persistently poor/rude driving standards of a couple of people. I understand that on most parts of most tracks my car is slow and being overtaken is inevitable, but I'd appreciate it if I was given room and not just ignored. Many times tonight I was just rammed into or forced off track in quite a disrespectful manner, the do's and donts are repeated enough times on the role call and are just ignored, I don't know why I bother putting them up.

That was damn good fun again. Lots of close racing in each of the races, with a long battle with Pete at Atlanta.

For me all three races went much the same: I was on my own for large parts of them, did reasonably well but I've probably lost ground to Dave in the championship. Koopa was just unstoppable.

Race 1 Mr Flobadob

Race 2 Mr Flobadob

Race 3 Mr Flobadob

In all seriousness though, was three fun races. Spent all three races trying to be on the exact same part of the race track as Flob, always a clean racer too which was great.

Race 1 he grabbed the win from me on the final few turns but deserved it after being taken out by Kimster anyway.

Race 2 we battled the whole race and finished side by side, I think it was 0.02!

Race 3 we had another nice battle until the roll. Felt a bit bad robbing a 300th race special podium from Pete!

Thoroughly enjoyed this week, some good racing, and some contact, and some interesting conversations..

RACE 1: Knew my car was strong here, so tried to stay out of trouble and pass people quickly. Had a best lap of 2:56:1, a whole 6 tenths of my personal best. But even worse, I had a clean lap of 2:56:5 until I went off on the small straight as I crossed the line... :? ANOTHER PODIUM! WOOOOO!

RACE 2: Didn't expect my car to do as well as it did, but very happy! Had some fun passing everybody like they were stationary, until I caught up to Matt, who fought for the position. Eventually pulled away, and chased Dave who was 700+ ft ahead. 2 or so laps later, I passed without drama, and by the end of the race, was about 500 ft head, Nice! 5th

RACE 3: A little messy, bit of contact, different lines, different cornering abilities, and others rolling. Rear ended by matt on lap 1, but held it, and didn't lose much time. Again, much faster than everyone else, and passed with ease. Suprised to be lapping, but passed Lin with 3 laps to go.6th.

Best quote of the night "Seems to be the entire lobby on Koopa tonight"

These races were rather dull for me.

I've not had similar pace to anyone this season and it's caused me to have no battles of any note on track and left me without a real battle or rivalry in the standings.

Even though i've had some of my best results this season, they've been so hollow. I crave someone to fight rather than getting good results and i've not had that this season. I've been alone pretty much every race.

It's the car choice more than anything so this is just a rant at me really. This has personally been the most dull season for me.

It's not necessarily speed, it's having the same pace as others so i can engage in some racing.

I think James means that he's not consistent enough to engage in a race-long battle with someone, rather than he's not fast enough to keep up. I've had the same issue. You have a couple of laps with someone, you make a mistake, you drop back. Do that a couple of times and before you know it you have a lonely race.
0x
Have fun.
