There is currently a workaround on Sky, but the whole thing is very concerning given the total lack of communication about the removal from both platforms.

I see David Coulthard it trying to coax a WEC team into giving him a drive for this season by insulting endurance racers the world over.

I'm absolutely loving how many people are calling him out on that bullshit. I know the endurance racing paddock likes to take unnecessary potshots at F1 from time to time but at least the basis for them isn't 20 years out of date.

Hardly surprising though, F1 lives in its own little bubble, completely out of touch with...well, everything.

Yeah, at least the potshot is completely warranted. That's Taki Inoue levels of ill-informedness, just without the funny.

At first I thought he was comparing the 21 race weekends to WEC's 9. But the words he uses doesn't convey that at all, so I have no idea what he was thinking. Remember he was a driver during the proper days of F1 though: 16 races, lots of testing, sprints-within-sprints racing, i.e. nothing that resembles the mess we have today.

I got the impression he was comparing it to what F1 was, not what it is now. Just don't think he worded it very well so people jumped on it.

I don't remember this 24hr race being much of a sprint at any point at all...

Modern endurance racing feels as if it is more 'sprint' than what F1 is right now, and with less of the gimmicks. Sure, it isn't perfect, but the racing is exceptional.

It's all arse upwards.

Formula One should be about a forced sprint to the finish. It's a distance race, so the aim should be to finish it as fast as possible.

Timed endurance racing however, if there's any racing that's going to be about strategic thinking and gambles this should be it. It doesn't impress me that the WEC drivers are pushing flat out (apart from an athletic and engineering perspective of course) the whole time when the race finish happens at a pre-determined time anyway. I want to see Porsche do 8 stops at full blast versus Toyota crawling around on 5 stops and see if they meet in the final stint. Because of the time and distance involved there should be far more room for variety as opposed to the one stop's difference you get 95% of the time in F1. As it is the front-runners all do the same amount of stops pretty much and it's just who is the fastest.

I love both aspects of racing but when they're in the wrong places I just can't enjoy them the way I want to.

Midweek Motorsport had cleaned up the JOTA/G-Drive mess for me. G-Drive are the title sponsor for the JOTA team this year, and so the team and entry get called G-Drive. G-Drive is a Gazprom brand*, and Roman Rusinov is a GazProm employee and 'works' driver so he gets a seat as well. However the team will be run by all the guys and girls known as JOTA.

*Gazprom being the petrol station company and G-Drive being their brand of high octane fuel.

Replace Heidfeld with Senna and you'd have an awesome line up in terms of names...

Motors TV is no longer showing live races; guess I'm stream hunting again this season.

(I like the idea of the official app but they don't have races in demand; only live)

One would hope that Eurosport or BT pick it up... Especially as BT has no less than six red button channels...

I'd rather no one pick it up than Eurosport, their Le Mans coverage is diabolical every year ;)

Enjoying this tyre advert? You'll be fine with seeing it literally 100 times in the next 24 hours then!

I don't hate it though. The whole thing has a charming low budget slapdash feel, like watching old F1 broadcasts from the 80s. Neville Hay's commentary in the small hours when he completely forgets to look at what's happening on the track is always worth staying up for as well.
