Troféu RlyR Extremo do Spielberg
With the introductory events for R3E and Assetto Corsa done and some experience gained in club racing days, it's time to give Stock Car Extreme its first proper event. To make up for the fact that the underlying engine, while maxed out to the limits, isn't exactly new, the event's date will be: We're going to check how feasible Wednesday PC racing is as an alternative to the weekends, and being right between them as well - Wednesday October 28th it shall be!
Yet again, we'll be sticking to stock content. However, said content will take a looong journey from Brazil all the way to Austria's Red Bull Ring! As chartering an airplane isn't quite cheap, and considering the event's name so fittingly shortens to TRES, we'll be taking three different vehicle classes with us, thus simulating a proper day at the racetrack:
Support races will feature both the challenging, yet rewarding Formula Vees and the multi-car championship Copa Petrobras de Marcas, all leading up to the main race set to take place in the 2014 Brazilian V8 Stockcars.
Round 1: Formula Vee (~86bhp @ 530kg)
Round 2: Copa Petrobras de Marcas (~247bhp @ 1160kg)
Round 3: 2014 V8 Stockcars (~457bhp @ 1340 kg)
The Formula Vee race will use the short layout (using the shortcut at Lauda), both the Marcas and V8 races will run the full layout.
As mentioned, we'll be running three races in three different classes. To keep things tidy, there won't be seperate practice sessions or warmups joining the long-ish qualifying sessions and actual races. Much like for the AC event, early practice is advised, especially so for the Vee and V8s.
With that in mind, the event will kick off at 19:00 London time, which by then should be back to GMT, starting with the Formula Vee qualifying session:
Formula Vees (11:00 ingame time)
19:20 Race (15mins)
Copa Petrobas de Marcas (14:00 ingame time)
20:00 Race (20mins)
10 Minute Break for Food, Drinks and Bathroom visits
V8 Stockcars (17:00 ingame time)
21:05 Race (30mins)
As this event puts drivers in the position of mastering three different cars, points will be evenly distributed, with a slight disadvantage for the somehwat easier Marcas cars, and double points for the V8s for racing twice the length:
- Formula Vee: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1
- Marcas: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1
- V8 Stockcars: 20-16-12-10-8-6-4-2
Because doing something the easy way apparently isn't next-gen, Stock Car Extreme handles liveries quite annoying, as well. This means there will be yet another deadline on liveries so we can compile them into a big pack that everyone has to download (otherwise, there will be mismatches). This deadline will be Saturday, October 24th.
To keep your painter's workload somewhat bearable, Formula Vee liveries will be supplied by the race organisation, with two feature colours to be chosen from each participant's driver number template on the wiki.
As far as the Marcas and V8s are concerned, the liveries are now available on the FTP - unfortunately, the original templates that they're based on aren't the most straight-forward thing ever and even with some cleaning up, they might act up in Paint.NET, Gimp (Alpha layers, shading layers) or even Photoshop (Alpha layers, which might be just me though). If you run into any trouble, feel free to ask in here or shoot me a PM.
All templates contain a base livery as featured in the screenshots above, which can be easily adjusted by recolouring the respective layers (Background, Stripes, BW Stripes, 1st colour, 2nd colour - depending on car). This can be done via Photoshop's layer options or Paint.NET/Gimp's hue adjustment tools. In order to test your liveries, you'll have to place them into a folder inside their respective vehicle directory at \GameData\Vehicles\.
As usual, series sponsors (seperate layer) and numberboxes are not be changed - the fonts used are Impact (standard windows font) and Lato, which is freeware and up on the FTP as well. The Marcas cars' windows shall remain as-is, as well.
See you on the track!
