A considerable amount of my free time is about to totally disappear ;) and I'll probably have to shift some of my other things to a Sunday night so that means no racing

Final round for me in the Hyundai TCR ever (atleast the 3rd time i've said that after a TCR season, but, those eyes man...).

Hopefully can send it to the scrapper as a championship winning machine.

High Speed Ring Stewarding Post

Image

Pit Entry: On the left before the final corner. The pit speed limit starts around the gap in the wall.
Pit Exit: On the left before turn 1. Please announce pit exit.

Track Notes
The Turn 1 banking is extremely fast. Be aware of other cars around you and do not move across the track unless you are absolutely sure it is clear. If in doubt, hold your line.

Be careful in the braking zones, especially at turn 2, as brakes will be cold. On the first lap, be prepared to brake earlier than normal if required.

Two wheels on the track at all times please. You may use the full width of the pit straight, including the yellow hatched area on the right.

Bump drafting in qualifying is banned. Bump drafting in the race is allowed but only with consent of both drivers and it is entirely at your own risk.

Event Notes
Be careful at the start. We've had a couple of start crashes this season because people weren't aware of other cars around them.

These are touring cars and as such are able to withstand minor contact, however, the guiding principle remains to avoid contact. In particular, if you gain a place as a result of making contact with another car, you must give the place back. As an example, this kind of move would not be acceptable. Please call it out and/or file an incident report if you see overtaking being done this way.

We will review lap 1 of each race as well as any incident reports. Please report incidents to @camp_bell or @Lemm314 on this forum or Discord by 19:00 UK time on Tuesday, 2nd September 2020.

Fun stuff dragging the Alfa to P6 in the first two races before dying in R3 and hanging on for dear life to not lose a lap :D

Congrats race winners, and congrats @Mike Bell & @camp_bell!

Quali
3rd and 4th with no slipstream somehow.

Race 1
Absolutely intense from start to finish. Thanks to @Boovolari, @Blex, @Lemm314 and others for some hard clean racing. Towards the end, I found I had better tyres than Pete and I was able to make a move stick going into the final lap for a first podium of the season in 3rd.

Race 2
Started 4th and quickly found myself in 2nd behind @Mike Bell with Pete close behind. Traded places with Pete mid-race but after that I slotted in behind Mike and worked on building a gap behind. With a couple of laps to go I got a run off the final corner and took the lead, and Mike didn't fight it too hard so I managed to take a first win since CLASH and fastest lap!

Race 3
Was getting slightly boxed in when the turn 1 crash happened ahead of me and I couldn't avoid a spinning POWA car. I suffered less damage than some and recovered to 8th with fastest lap (somehow), which was enough to secure the teams championship.

Thanks @Mike Bell for the setup which gave me the confidence to be competitive, but even so a win and a 3rd with two FLAPs was far beyond even my wildest hopes! No one is more surprised at how tonight went than I am.

Livid. You fools let Campbell win.

Quali: I wanted some suck initially but decided eventually to suck myself. P10 and P9.

Race 1: Didn't put enough fuel in so started from the pits. Was out of the running after that really. Pace looked okay though. P11.

Race 2: A scruffy race. Had a fair few biffs, lost concentration a few times and should have done a bit better. P8.

Race 3: I didn't expect to be in with a shout of a podium until I saw a flying Bjorn in my rear mirror. When I realised how many cars were involved, then I thought a podium was possible. Pace dropped a bit towards the end as it did in the first two races, but a small error at T2 probably cost me a more realistic shot. The result, funnily enough, was the same as my debut. P5.

Thanks for the racing over the years (and hopefully I won't call my retirement short again, thanks COVID) and all that. I'll probably rock up to a Wreckfest night or something at some point, but I simply don't have the time for this now sadly.

What a night.

Race 1: Qualified 4th(?!), got to third by the end of lap 1 but the dwarves dug too deep and Bono was called on the radio. Spent the rest of the race going backwards and ended up losing out to Josh on the last lap in a run to the line for 10th.

Race 2: Had an okay start from 6th, but came together with Lazzy at turn 4 and was a long way adrift at the back. Would've needed GEARS race lengths to make up the gap to the pack, but came home in 12th for the reverse grid pole.

Race 3: Bricking it starting pole for the second time this season. Lost the lead a few laps in and fell as low as 5th at one point. Ended up having a delicious 3-way with @craighypheno and @cosmo for 3rd and came out on top due to no small amount of luck. First podium. Well chuffed.

Drivers involved: @shaxberd (#10), @MrRandom287 (#31) and several others
Event/Race: RRTCR4 - High Speed Ring 3
Timestamp: 225
Short Description: Matt moves down on the banking at turn 1 and collides with Bjorn, causing a massive pile up.
Verdict: REPRIMAND for Matt
Comment: Matt moves down the banking, crossing the checked line. Since we specifically warned about moving across the track on the banking, this is a reprimand.

If you wish to appeal a verdict, please send a PM to @camp_bell or @shaxberd.
